Renewed Health and Vitality. Proverbs 2-3; First Peter 1

May the mumbling commence!

Do we want to be renewed in health and vitality?  Then, we need to eschew our own wisdom and the wisdoms of this world.  They eventually will lead us to evil ways, paths and places. 

Where do we go?  Go to the Lord.  Read from Proverbs chapter three:

Don't be impressed with your own wisdom.

Instead, fear the Lord

and turn your back on evil. 

Then you will gain renewed health and vitality. (Verses 7-8)

There are many pills and creams that promise renewed health and vitality.  These human-made solutions only scratch the surface.  They work from the outside in… and they don’t get very deep at all.  They are treating symptoms only. 

God alone can renew our health and vitality.  God works from the inside out… and every ounce of our being is transformed and renewed.

Go to the Lord!  Practice self-control.  Reap the blessings.

Read from First Peter chapter one:

So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the special blessings that will come to you at the return of Jesus Christ.  Obey God because you are his children. Don't slip back into your old ways of doing evil; you didn't know any better then.  But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God – who chose you to be his children – is holy.  For he himself has said, "You must be holy because I am holy." (Verses 13-16)

Going to the Lord means obedience.  Obedience means holiness.  And these add up to being children of our heavenly Father because we reflect the nature of our God.  That is wisdom!
