May the mumbling commence!
This is the day to give the Lord all praise and glory
and honor. Praise God for the Lord cares
for all people. Yahweh lifts up the
lowly and downtrodden. God gives us a
place to rest from our struggles. The
Lord evens the playing field. Read Psalm
One-hundred Thirteen:
Praise the Lord!
Yes, give praise,
O servants of the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
forever and ever.
Everywhere—
from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.
For the Lord is high above
the nations;
his glory is far greater than the
heavens.
Who can be compared with the Lord our God,
who is enthroned on high?
Far below him are the heavens and the
earth.
He
stoops to look,
and
he lifts the poor from the dirt
and
the needy from the garbage dump.
He
sets them among princes,
even
the princes of his own people!
He gives the barren woman a home,
so
that she becomes a happy mother.
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Name of the Lord. How many times does the Name of the Lord
appear in this psalm? It appears seven
times… the number of completion… the number of perfection. Remember the Name of the Lord and praise it.
How do we praise that holy Name? We serve.
We serve God. We serve God by
serving other people.
Where do we praise the Name of the Lord? We praise it everywhere. We praise it in the east and the west, in the
north and the south.
Why do we praise the Lord? God helps us to have proper perspective and
context. I do not live for myself. I live for God. In that way, I truly live. Our welfare is tied up with the welfare of
all people. That includes the poor and
the needy.
This perspective is eye-opening. It gives the only reason that we need to
serve. You and I are inextricably bound
together. So let’s help one another so
that we all may live a life worth living.
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
