Caution: Holy Spirit at Work! Psalm 114-115; Hebrews 5

May the mumbling commence!

Blessings flow from the Lord.  Trust in the Lord.  You will not be disappointed.  Read from Psalm One-hundred Fifteen:

O Israel, trust the Lord!
He is your helper; he is your shield.
O priests of Aaron, trust the Lord!
He is your helper; he is your shield.
All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord!
He is your helper; he is your shield.

The Lord remembers us, and he will surely bless us.
He will bless the people of Israel
and the family of Aaron, the priests.
He will bless those who fear the Lord, both great and small.
May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.
May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
The heavens belong to the Lord,
but he has given the earth to all humanity. (Verses 9-16)

Trust the Lord.  It is repeated three times.  It’s important, people.

Trust in the Lord, and God will help you.  God will shield you from harm.  That, too, is repeated three times.  It’s important, people.

The Lord remembers and blesses us – great and small.  The Lord has gifted us with the earth.  It’s a gift given to all humanity.

That’s a lot to wrap our minds around.  We share the gift of creation with all other people.  The rich and the poor.  The young and the old.  The famous and the ordinary.  The intelligent and the ignorant.

And we also share this gift of creation with generations yet to come.  We must take care of the earth so that our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren will enjoy it just as much.  After all, all creation belongs to God.  Let’s take care with God’s property!

So, let’s share with all people the blessings of the Lord – even when sharing makes us suffer.  Read from Hebrews chapter five about the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God.  So even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.  In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.  And God designated him to be a High Priest in the line of Melchizedek. (Verses 7-10)

Suffering for the sake of our God perfects us.  We are all works in process.  Caution!  Holy Spirit at work.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
