HS - Holy Spirit Prayer Defintion; Romans 5-8

May the mumbling commence!

I am sure that you have heard of “High Definition” televisions.  You know, enhance your viewing experience.  Want to know how to enhance your prayer experience?  Try HS praying – prayer enhanced with the Holy Spirit.  That kind of prayer can change the world by starting with me and you.  Read from Romans chapter eight (NRSV):

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.  And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Verses 26-27)

The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we cannot find the right words (if there even are any).  The Spirit moans and groans along with us.  Even in our darkest hours, the presence of God only draws nearer.  God is with us.  God moans and groans for us.  God wants us to grow into the creations that were first intended.

It is a great thing to think that the Holy Spirit of God intercedes for us.  But, before we get too far off track, the translation of the Holy Spirit has as much to do with translating the will of God for us as it does with translating our prayers to God.

Don’t neglect to see that the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  Intercession happens not for my will or yours… not even for ours.  Intercession happens so that God’s will be done.  Part of the translation is helping us to align with the will of God for our lives.

The question, my friends, is never “Is God on my side?”  The question we need to seek for an answer to is “Am I on God’s side?”

Am I ready to allow God to be the pilot of my life… not simply my co-pilot or godly-positioning-system?  Are you ready for that level of commitment?  When we allow God to pilot our lives without our backseat driving or navigating ability, we will need to hold on for a wild ride, full of blessings coming from unexpected places.

Let us allow the Holy Spirit to intercede for us in our prayers so that we can be the change that our world so desperately needs.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
