Treasure the Lord. Isaiah 32-33; Revelation 13

May the mumbling commence!

What do we most treasure?  Our lives will reflect that treasure in many ways.  Let us treasure our relationship to the Lord and his Body, the church.  Read from Isaiah chapter thirty-three.

But Lord, be merciful to us,
for we have waited for you.
Be our strength each day
and our salvation in times of trouble.

The enemy runs at the sound of your voice.
When you stand up, the nations flee!
Just as locusts strip the fields and vines,
so Jerusalem will strip the fallen army of Assyria!

Though the Lord is very great and lives in heaven,
he will make Jerusalem his home of justice and righteousness.
In that day he will be your sure foundation,
providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.
The fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. (Verses 2-6)

If we treasure something, we are willing to wait for it.  Will we wait on the Lord?  Mercy that God has given to us is extended even to those who might hate and persecute us.

We need strength and salvation.  Trust in the Lord to provide both.  God is stronger than our enemies both from without and from within.  Justice and righteousness will reign.

God is our foundation and key to this treasure.  Let’s seek the Lord with all our hearts.  God is the treasure that we chase… even when times are bad.  Persecution is our chance to prove our faith and patience and endurance.  Read from Revelation chapter thirteen:

Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand.  The people who are destined for prison will be arrested and taken away. Those who are destined for death will be killed. But do not be dismayed, for here is your opportunity to have endurance and faith. (Verses 9-10)

O God, you are our sure foundation and treasure.  May we cling to You in times of distress… showing our endurance and patience and faith in You.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
