May the mumbling commence!
Sometimes we feel weary and heavy
laden. It’s true. But, when we are walking in the Way of Jesus,
we have the living Spirit of the living Lord to strengthen us for the journey. Read from Isaiah chapter thirty five:
With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to
those who are afraid, "Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming
to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you." And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unstop
the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will shout and sing! Springs will gush forth in the
wilderness, and streams will water the desert.
The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy
the thirsty land. Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish where desert
jackals once lived.
And
a main road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-hearted
people will never travel on it. It will
be only for those who walk in God's ways; fools will never walk
there. Lions will not lurk along its
course, and there will be no other dangers. Only the redeemed will follow it. Those
who have been ransomed by the Lord
will return to Jerusalem, singing songs of everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and
they will be overcome with joy and gladness. (Verses 3-10)
Rejoice! God is coming to destroy our enemies… both
those without and within. The Lord will
open our eyes and unplug our ears. The
Lord will make us strong so that we might shout and sing praises to God.
And a Highway of Holiness will
ribbon out before us… a narrow path.
It’s only for those who walk in God’s Way. It’s only for the redeemed… only by God’s
grace does anyone find this path and keep to it. On this path, sorrow and mourning will be
transformed into joy and gladness.
Rejoice! Praise the Lord! Shout along with the angel in Revelation
chapter fourteen:
And I saw another angel flying through the heavens, carrying
the everlasting Good News to preach to the people who belong to this world – to every nation, tribe, language, and people. "Fear
God," he shouted. "Give glory
to him. For the time
has come when he will sit as judge. Worship
him who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all the springs of water."
(Verses 6-7)
Have you no fear? Fear this – fear the Lord Almighty, the only
one who can destroy both body and soul.
Respect that power. Give thanks
that the Lord is merciful and gracious.
Give glory unto God and to God’s Son Jesus. Worship the Creator of all things.
Amen and amen.
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
