May the mumbling commence!
We also learn from this portion of the gospel according to John that the Holy Spirit is our Counselor who reveals Christ more fully to us. Our Counselor makes Jesus better known to us. At the same time, we become more self-aware as we are fully known by Christ Jesus. Read from John chapter fifteen (NLT):
"But I will send you the Counselor – the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will tell you all about me. And you must also tell others about me because you have been with me from the beginning.” (Verses 26-27)
As we are fully known and better know Jesus, we are given a charge. We do not sit on this wealth of knowledge and tell no one. We are charged to go and tell others about Jesus.
In our relationships with other people, we find our knowledge of Jesus growing by leaps and bounds. As we go to tell others about Jesus, we must keep our eyes open for where Jesus is already present and working. We come to teach and tell, but more often than not, we find we are learning about Christ just as much as the people that we have come to teach.
So, let’s invite this day – and every day henceforth – the Holy Spirit Counselor into our very beings so that we may better know Christ… so that we might better know ourselves… so that we might tell others about Jesus. It is our reason for being.
May class begin!
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
