May the mumbling commence!
We also learn in the gospel according to John that the Spirit of truth also continues teaching in the Way of Jesus. While on earth, Christ did not get to talk on every pertinent subject comprehensively. That is where the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth comes in. Read from John chapter sixteen (NIV):
"Oh, there is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by revealing to you whatever he receives from me. All that the Father has is mine; this is what I mean when I say that the Spirit will reveal to you whatever he receives from me.” (Verses 12-15)
There was much more to say… but that articulation is left for the work of the Spirit of truth. This Spirit of truth will guide us into all truth… even truth that deals with the future.
And the Spirit of truth is not a “Lone Ranger”. He speaks only what he hears and receives from Jesus.
So, if you feel that you are hearing a spirit and you want to test it, make sure that the spirit falls in line with the Way and Teaching of Jesus. If it doesn’t align, then be very suspicious about it.
Guide us, O Spirit of truth. Guide into the future with Christ. Help us to know the truth of Jesus’ Way so that we may know how to respond to the daily interactions in our lives.
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
