Be Careful How You Plan; James

May the mumbling commence!

You can depend on God.  If you seek to depend on anyone or anything else, then your chances of being disappointed rise dramatically.  So be careful how you plan.  Make sure your plans always keep God in their focus.  Read from James chapter four (NLT):

Look here, you people who say, "Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit."  How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog – it's here a little while, then it's gone.
What you ought to say is, "If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that."  Otherwise you will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. (Verses 13-17)

It is far too easy to get caught up in our plans for the future.  We may even think that we plan with God in mind.  But if we do not take the time and effort to listen to the Spirit of God speaking to us, then we may not have such a good idea of what God wants us to do.  And we can get very far off the track (which is a narrow one, by the way).

Once we find out what God wants us to do, we cannot stop there.  We must do it.  Clear your planner or you calendar.  God has His best in mind for you.  So do it.  Anything less is settling for less than who God created you to be.  Anything less ends in evil.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
