Restoration; Revelation 21-22

May the mumbling commence!

O, Lord, we wait for restoration.  We wait for the fullness of the Lord’s restoration of all creation.  We seek to be healed and nourished.  We desperately seek you, O Lord, because you are the source of healing and nourishment and everlasting life.  Read from Revelation chapter twenty-two:

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.  No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.  They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.  There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever. (1-5)

O, to drink from the river of life!  O, to eat from the fruits of the trees of life that surround that river!  There is a crop for each month of the year.  What variety!

And the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations.  What does it mean for a nation to be healed?  It means living in the light of God and the Lamb.  It means seeing the lines that delineate nations become blurred beyond all recognition.  It means becoming one in Christ.  It means being devoted to working together to serve the Lord.

It also means that we are no longer our own.  We have been bought and paid for by God, and the Name of God will be written upon our foreheads.  Remember whose you are.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
