Salt Helps Maintain Natural Balance; 2 Kings 2

May the mumbling commence!

Salt purifies and helps to maintain the balance of nature.  Salt is one of the many gifts that the Lord has given us to sustain creation.  Let us give thanks to the Creator for salt.  One of Elisha’s first miracles was done through the gift of salt.  Read about it for 2 Kings 2:19-22 –

The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive."
"Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it." So they brought it to him.
Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the Lord says: 'I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.'"   And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

The water was bad in Jericho.  Bad water caused the land to be unproductive and caused death to reign.  So, Elisha called for a new bowl with salt in it.  Then Elisha went to the spring – the very source of the water – and threw the salt into the spring.  And Elisha spoke for the Lord.  Elisha named the water as healed.  No longer would death reign or the land be unproductive.  According to the word of Elisha, the water remained wholesome – the word of the Lord spoken through Elisha –

The power of DABAR.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
