May the mumbling commence!
How many times have you used a tool other than for its intended purpose? You’ve probably done it more times than you can count. Think about all the times that you’ve used a chair to stand on to reach something. Or what about all those times that you used a screwdriver as a lever? The list can go on and on.
Now, think about how much more effective the tool is when it is used for what it is designed for. You know, actually use a pry bar for a lever instead of a screwdriver. Or use a hammer for a hammer rather than the handle end of a screwdriver (not that any of us have done this!).
Now think about the best ways to use our bodies. God looks down on us and wonders why we use our bodies the way that we do. Our Creator never intended for us to abuse our bodies through overeating or inactivity… or many of the other things that we do to abuse our bodies. And sometimes we use our bodies as tools to harm other people.
There is a better way. The Spirit of God will show us the Way, if only we will listen and obey. Read from Romans chapter six (NLT):
Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God's grace. (Verses 13-14)
Let us leave behind the wickedness we too often do. Let us, instead give ourselves up to the living God. Let us making doing right, as the Spirit of God guides us, so that we might bring glory to the name of our Father in heaven.
Through the grace of God, sin is dead. Praise the Lord! There is no reason to go on living in our self-constructed prisons. Go forth in freedom to do good for the praise of the Father.
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
