May the mumbling commence!
Sometimes, our course of life makes us feel like we are disposable. But, never fret we are the apple of God’s eye. While the Lord will guide us with His rod of correction, God will also arise for our help. If we trust in the Lord, we will never regret it. Read from the end of Psalm forty-four:
If we had forgotten the name of our God,
Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god,
Would not God search this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord?
Arise! Do not cast us off forever.
Why do You hide Your face,
And forget our affliction and our oppression?
For our soul is bowed down to the dust;
Our body clings to the ground.
Arise for our help,
And redeem us for Your mercies' sake. (Verses 20-26)
Sometimes, in the course of our everyday living, we forget the name of the Lord Most High. We become enamored with the little gods that we surround ourselves with – like celebrities and wealth and influence and information. God knows – better than we know ourselves. Our Creator searches out the very deepest recesses of our hearts.
May you and I be willing to sacrifice for our Lord – including the ultimate sacrifice of our earthly lives. We cannot keep our earthly lives, after all. Why struggle to keep our lives when they are in opposition to the Way in which Christ leads us?
Whether or not we are true to our Lord, our Lord will be true to us. God will awake and arise to help those who seek after His heart. And, God will not do this act on account of us. God acts on account of His amazing grace and mercy.
What better response could we have to such love and grace and mercy than to return to the Lord and be obedient to the best of our ability? Let us show our thankfulness from the very depth of our attitudes all the way to our every word and action. Let us point others to the Christ child this Advent season.
Then, we will rejoice together as we receive a life we could never imagine in quality or quantity. And that eternal life begins when we accept the Christ child into our lives! Read from Proverbs chapter twelve:
In the way of righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death. (Verse 28)
Praise God!
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
