Learning to Hold Our Head Up; Ephesians

May the mumbling commence!

Want to mature in Christ?  Plant yourself firmly in God and His Son…  Then you will be able to stand firm in a turbulent and confusing world.  Continue to read from Ephesians chapter four (NIV):

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Verses 14-16)

Have you ever held an infant before?  They have trouble holding up their heads.  Our head is Christ Jesus.  Until we mature in Christ, we too will have difficulty holding up our head.  We will have trouble being good representatives for our Lord.

It means that we need to be sure of our Lord’s teachings… sure in our heads and hearts.  For, if we are not sure, every whim and doctrine humanity creates will toss and blow us about.  Yes, we need to be sure of the truth of Jesus… but we also need to speak that truth in an upbuilding and loving manner.

It is not just my growth that I need to encourage.  I must also encourage the maturity of my Christian brothers and sisters.  We, together, need to grow so that we will function as one.  Then and only then can we do the work that Christ sets us to through the Holy Spirit.

It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a properly functioning church body to raise a mature Christian.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
