Wisdom Belongs to God. Job 11-12; Second Corinthians 10

May the mumbling commence!

Look at nature and learn much about God.  Examine nature and learn more about the depth of God’s wisdom and understanding.  Be in awe.  Our God is an awesome God, indeed.  Read from Job chapter twelve:

"Ask the animals, and they will teach you.
Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you.
Let the fish of the sea speak to you.
They all know that the Lord has done this.
For the life of every living thing is in his hand,
and the breath of all humanity.
Just as the mouth tastes good food,
so the ear tests the words it hears.
Wisdom belongs to the aged,
and understanding to those who have lived many years.

But true wisdom and power are with God;
counsel and understanding are his.
What he destroys cannot be rebuilt.
When he closes in on someone, there is no escape.
If he holds back the rain, the earth becomes a desert.
If he releases the waters, they flood the earth.” (Verses 7-15)

Just look and ask around.  Ask the animals of the land, water and sky.  They will tell you, if you listen.  Put your ear to the ground and listen to the rhythms of earth.  It will tell you, if you listen carefully.

God’s fingerprints are all over creation.  All life is in the hands of the Lord.  Think about these words.  Digest them.  Know them as good.  Test what you hear, and begin on the path of wisdom.

Who keeps the path of wisdom and understanding?  It is none other than the Lord God.  Do not try to fight against God.  That is one battle you will never win.

God controls nature.  The Lord can send no rain – just ask the farmers of southwestern Kansas.  Or the Lord can send a deluge – just ask the people in the Seattle, Washington area.  We are truly at the Lord’s mercy.  Thank you, O God, for you mercy and grace!

May we use the skills and strengths that the Lord gives us to build other people up – ever and always.  Read from Second Corinthians chapter ten:

The trouble with you is that you make your decisions on the basis of appearance. You must recognize that we belong to Christ just as much as those who proudly declare that they belong to Christ.  I may seem to be boasting too much about the authority given to us by the Lord. But this authority is to build you up, not to tear you down. And I will not be put to shame by having my work among you destroyed.
Now this is not just an attempt to frighten you by my letters.  For some say, "Don't worry about Paul. His letters are demanding and forceful, but in person he is weak, and his speeches are really bad!"  The ones who say this must realize that we will be just as demanding and forceful in person as we are in our letters.
Oh, don't worry; I wouldn't dare say that I am as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, and measuring themselves by themselves. What foolishness!  (Verses 7-12)

To build up other people is the only godly goal of authority, power, and skill.  So, don’t spend your time comparing yourself with others.  Too soon you will want to tear other people down to make yourself feel better.

Don’t even waste your time comparing yourself to your own past.  Look ahead, and depend upon the grace of the Lord.

Enough mumbling for now…

Peace Out
