May the mumbling commence!
Too often we are busy at constructing walls that are unnecessary. Sometimes we know it and try to whitewash the
walls to hide that fact. Read from
Ezekiel chapter thirteen:
"These evil prophets deceive my people
by saying, 'All is peaceful!' when there
is no peace at all! It's as if the people have built a flimsy wall, and these prophets are trying to hold it together by covering it
with whitewash! Tell these
whitewashers that their
wall will soon fall down. A heavy
rainstorm will undermine it; great hailstones and mighty winds will knock it
down. And when the wall falls, the
people will cry out, 'Where is the whitewash you applied?'
Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I
will sweep away your whitewashed wall with a storm of indignation, with a great
flood of anger, and with hailstones of fury.
I will break down your wall right
to the foundation, and when it falls, it will crush you. Then you will know
that I am the Lord! At last my anger against the wall and those
who covered it with whitewash will be satisfied. Then I will say to you: 'The wall and those who whitewashed it
are both gone. They were lying prophets
who claimed peace would come to Jerusalem when there was no peace.
I, the Sovereign Lord, have
spoken!' (Verses 10-16)
Walls divide. We
put them up all the time to make us feel better. These flimsy walls give the illusion of
peace. We might proclaim peace, but
there is no peace.
There’s no peace when division reigns. Our God is not a God of division but a God of
relationship. The Lord will break down
those flimsy whitewashed walls.
Let us come to know the Lord God through our
relationships with Him and with all His creation. Let us tear down the walls that separate us. It’s Satan who wished to divide and
conquer. Division is his tool.
It’s division and fear for our status that causes lies
to erupt and be thought of as true. Read
from Matthew chapter twenty-eight:
As the women were on their way into the city, some of the
men who had been guarding the tomb went to the leading priests and told them what
had happened. A meeting of all the
religious leaders was called, and they decided to bribe
the soldiers. They told the
soldiers, "You must say, 'Jesus'
disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his
body.' If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up
for you and everything will be all right."
So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say.
Their story spread widely among the
Jews, and they still tell it today.
(Verses 11-15)
Let’s leave behind our fears and divisions and lies
behind. Let’s seek unity in the dream
and plan and will of the Lord. It’s the
best plan for us by far.
Enough mumbling for now…
Peace Out
